Oud (sometimes known as 'Oudh' or 'Aoud') is a resin taken from the heartwood of the Aquilaria tree that's primarily found in Southeast Asia. This rare material is the result of a fungal infection that produces a dark, sticky substance with a rich scent.

In its purest form Oud is (by weight) one and a half times the price of solid gold. It's scent intensifies with age, making the older varieties vastly more expensive and has a dark, smoky scent that richly enhances longevity.
